What are Porcelain Dental Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin sheets of porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth. We can shape or color them to your desire to create your ideal results. After we bond the veneers to your teeth, they will stay there for anywhere from 7 to 20 years before you need to replace them. In other words, you can enjoy a beautiful and perfect smile for years to come!
Veneers also don’t stain so you can enjoy all the coffee and red wine you want without worrying about whitening your teeth. The end results look completely natural and nobody will even know that you have veneers in the first place.
Problems Porcelain Veneers Can Address
Our cosmetic dentists can design veneers to address problems such as the following:
- Stained or discolored teeth
- Uneven teeth
- Irregularly shaped teeth
- Gappy smiles
- Worn teeth
- Eroded enamel
If you have any of the aesthetic problems listed above, dental veneers may be the right solution for you.
If you’re interested in using porcelain veneers to enhance your smile, your first step is to schedule a consultation with our dentists. During this time, we will examine your smile, discuss your goals, what you dislike and give you our suggestions as to how we think we can improve it. If veneers are the right fit for you, we will move onto the next step.
Before we can create and place the veneers, we must first prepare your teeth for them. This involves removing a thin layer of enamel from your teeth to make room for the veneers to fit. Without prepping your teeth first, the veneers would stick out and look unnatural. Porcelain veneers are a permanent decision. Once we remove the enamel from your teeth, you can never grow it back.
After we prep your teeth, we will take impressions of your teeth to send to the dental lab. The dental lab will then craft your veneers to match the exact shape and color you want.
While you wait for the veneers to return from the lab, we will provide you with a set of temporary veneers to wear. This will give you time to get used to your new smile and prevent your teeth from looking off until we place your veneers.
Once your veneers return from the lab, we will double-check that they look and fit correctly before bonding them to your teeth. In just two appointments, you will have a brand new smile!
