General Dental Exams and Cleanings
One of the best ways to take care of your oral health is by visiting us regularly for dental exams and cleanings. We recommend all patients to visit us twice a year, or every six months. During these appointments, we will take x-rays, examine your mouth, look for tooth decay, gum disease, and other potential concerns. If we find any problems, we will create a treatment plan immediately so the problem doesn’t progress any further.
In addition to your examination, we will give you professional dental cleaning to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth and underneath your gum line. This will prevent cavities and gum disease from forming and remove surface stains from your teeth. Dental cleanings are the only way to remove tartar from your teeth. It’s important not to skip these appointments in case you do have a problem and to prevent plaque and tartar from causing damage to your teeth or gums.
When you have a cavity, it’s important that our general dentists remove it from your tooth immediately before it causes an infection in your tooth. Once we remove the cavity, we restore your tooth back to health using composite fillings. Composite fillings are mercury-free and blend in to match your natural tooth color!
Gum Disease Treatment
Nearly half of American adults have some form of gum disease. Without treatment gum disease can cause serious health problems like heart disease and even cause you to lose your teeth. We offer gum disease treatment to help your gums return back to proper health. We recommend that patients practice brushing and flossing twice a day to avoid gum disease.
When teeth become severely damaged, dental crowns can repair their structure and appearance. When we place a porcelain dental crown over a damaged, decayed, broken, worn, or tooth that has lots of large fillings, the dental crown protects the natural tooth underneath. It increases the strength of the tooth and improves its appearance.
Once a tooth becomes infected, only a root canal can save it from needing an extraction. We save the tooth by removing the infected pulp, filling the tooth, and placing a crown over the top. A root canal can save your tooth and allow it to live a long and healthy life.
When you lose one or several teeth, you have a few different tooth replacement options. Dental bridges are one of the few options that allow you to secure your tooth replacements to your mouth. Since they are not removable and they look natural, many patients enjoy the benefits of dental bridges.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to extract an entire mouth of teeth. When this happens, the easiest way to replace your missing teeth all at once is with dentures.
